I haven’t gotten my hair cut in probably about 10 months… I know – way overdue, don’t judge me! I’m at that point where I NEED to make an appointment because my hair is just getting too dull & unruly. Split ends and frizziness have managed to take over any hairstyle I do these days. I came across the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture line on Sephora.com and decided I would give it a shot to hold me over between salon visits and help revive my not-so-smooth hair.
The company has a really interesting & inspiring history that goes back over 100 years, you can read all about it here. As for the actual products, I’m pretty impressed. They offer 4 different collections: Maximize Moisture, Tame Frizz, Smooth Style and Nourish & Restore. I tried the Smooth Style collection which is a rich combination of Brassica Seed & Shea Oils.
Shampoo × Sulfate, phthalate and paraben free & infused with moisture to tackle heat-styled hair and leave it super soft & shiny. Brassica seed is a natural alternative to silicone and what provides the weightless, smoothness. Shea oil is deeply hydrating and provides natural heat protection. Because this is so concentrated and hydrating, I only use half of what I normally do with other shampoos.
Conditioner × It’s a creamy, thick consistency that will leave your hair super soft and loaded with moisture. I think the formula is ideal for ANY hair type and the sweet notes of spun sugar and red velvet cream make this the ultimate shower treat!
Scent & Shine Brassica Seed Oil × A very little goes a long way with this. Just one spritz before styling will leave your hair smooth allllll day. Or spray it on dry hair for added shine. It absorbs instantly doesn’t leave any sticky residue.
Shine & Hold Spray × This isn’t an overly thick, sticky spray. I use a tiny amount after straightening or curling with a wand/iron to hold down any split ends/fly aways and keep my style intact.
Silkening Blow Out Crème × Use a dime-sized amount and rub it between palms to evenly distribute it throughout hair. It fully smooths hair and leaves it really soft & glossy and even keeps 2nd day hair silky smooth.
The entire collection is super concentrated so only a little is needed to achieve results. So each product should last you a looooong time. Even the conditioner which is something I always seem to blow through the quickest. Use a small amount to see the best, smoothest results! http://www.sephora.com
