Who else loves finding new (or new to you) cosmetic brands?! This one is a long-time family-owned business started by women to help other women look and feel their best. Merle Norman started out by testing her own formulas she made in her own kitchen and opened her first studio in California in 1931 and originated the “try before you buy” concept, which I’m sure we all can appreciate! Better known for their studios that cater to special event makeup, spa services, nail services, hair salon services and brow services to name a few. This line is a little hard to get to but totally worth looking into and trying if you’re near one of their studio locations.
Being a total eyeshadow junkie – I was intrigued with their vast range in colors.. they sell upwards of 45+ single shade gorgeous colors, that of course all appealed to me. My favorites: (L to R) Purple Taupe, Burgundy Chic & Scene Steeler. These shades screamed fall & winter colors to me and all pair beautifully together.
I’m also a fan of their lasting Cheekcolor blushes; they’re talc free and have a huge variety of colors for these as well. So whether you’re looking for subtlety or something bold, you won’t be disappointed. I chose Precious Pink, it’s an everyday classic pink shade and the color Wild Ginger which is the perfect mauve/nude color for fall. This color is universally flattering and their blushes are easily blendable and don’t kick up a lot of excess powder which I like.
I also have been playing with a few of their Lip Pencil Plus’. They’re dual-ended and serve as both an all-over lip color as well as liner and come in coordinating shades taking the guess work out of it. They’re a semi-matte finish and I find them to last several hours on my lips without having to touch up at all.
The Lip Glaze’s are a combination of gloss + lipstick and are a gel like consistency, with sheer color. The colors are bold and perfect for the upcoming holiday season. The Creamy Lipcolor in Sweet Liberty is probably my favorite of all the lip colors I’ve tried of theirs. The color is my typical go-to everyday shade and the formula is really creamy and moisturizing. I hate lipsticks that feel super dry and accentuate any dryness on your lips.. not at all the case with this. It’s comfortable and lasts hours. One of my new favorites in my pink/nude lipstick collection!
The only product I wasn’t loving was the Lash Lift Waterproof Mascara. I do not like waterproof mascara at all, so I can’t really blame the formula on this one, it’s more of just a personal preference. If you are someone who cries a lot, swims with makeup on, stands outside in the rain or whatever other activity that requires you to wear waterproof mascara, you may love this!
