Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes – Ablaze :: Metallic :: Bold

Compact, travel-sized palettes with high quality, intensely pigmented shades? Ummmm.. yes please! The new Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes in collaboration with actress Shay Mitchell, come in 7 shade ranges from matte to metallic to bright and bold, so theres definitely something for everyone. And to be completely honest, out of all 7 palettes, there isn’t a single one that didn’t appeal to me. Each palette contains eight shades with 0.27 oz of product and comes packaged in a sturdy little holographic palette, that really makes it “come to life” in a fun, innovative way!

Ablaze ::: (hot, desert-inspired shades).”Rich red clay and hot terra cotta, this palette captures the warmth of the desert in a range of sun-drenched shades—these dimensional pigments are perfect for adding depth and contouring.” This seems to be the most talked about of them all and I can totally see why. Warm-toned shadows are on trend right now and these are absolutely gorgeous. Three really pigmented mattes and six shimmers with a smooth, satin finish. Every color included blends out beautifully and truly complements one another and just looks so pretty once applied.  I’d have to agree with the majority that this one is the best and my most reached for!

Metallic ::: (fierce foil finish) “Featuring shades of gold, rose gold, bronze, copper, and pewter, it also contains an even layer of pearl that truly mimics metal.” As you can probably already guess, every shade in this palette is shimmer. With several bright shades in addition to gold and bronze colors, this palette is complimentary to every eye color and offers really good color payoff. I LOVE gold/bronzy eyeshadow colors and this is a great addition to my palette collection and I love having it in travel sized form.

Bold ::: (transformative and electrifying): “It includes electrifying colors and transformers to make eyeshadows really pop with an array of highly-pigmented, myriad of saturated, standout shades.” As someone who almost always gravitates to more subtle, neutral colors, this is a first for me. The colors are all so bright, bold and totally outside of my comfort zone, but somehow, I really like them! These are by no means, “go-to” daily colors for me, but a fun addition to my collection and for sure make a bold statement. The top two shades are an iridescent shimmer and the bottom six are matte and do require more blending to build up the color depending on the intensity you’re looking for. Every color is really unique but my favorites are the top right duo-chrome deep purplish color & the teal and bright purple.
