I recently was lucky enough to score the beautiful Kevyn Aucoin Neo-Bronzer through Octoly. Who else loves Kevyn Aucoin makeup? The entire line just screams luxury to me. The first thing I thought of when I got this was the IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow palettes. If you’re a true makeup addict, you may think this is like comparing apples to oranges, but they both contain the ombre highlight, blush and bronzer and are the same exact concept with different ingredients, qualities and price points.
When it comes to bronzer my demands are high. No matter how many different products/brands I try, bronzer is the one product I have the hardest time finding. I don’t like anything too warm/orange, but also can’t work with anything too “muddy” or patchy. Needless to say, I’m picky!
I much prefer the bronzer shade in the Kevyn Aucoin palette. The Neo-Bronzers come in two shades; Capri and Sienna, pictured above is Capri. Kevyn Aucoin’s career in makeup artistry is largely responsible for the contour craze. This bronzer shade is perfect for warming up skin tone in addition to creating the perfectly sculpted face in true Kevyn Aucoin fashion. I have a blush obsession and this one is absolutely beautiful, it blends out like a dream and melts right into the skin. While many of the Kevyn Aucoin highlighters are known for giving that subtle “lit-from-within” glow, this one is a bit powdery. It will definitely give a soft glow, but the chalkiness kind of threw me off a bit.
As far as the IT Cosmetics Confidence in Your Glow palette, I have been using and loving it for a few months now. It comes in three shades; Instant Warm Glow, Instant Natural Glow and Instant Nude Glow. Pictured is the “Nude Glow” palette, the lightest of the three. The powders are smooth and are so light weight that they’re pretty much mistake-proof. They advertised them as something you can blend together and sweep over your cheeks, but I prefer to apply each section individually. They lean on the less pigmented side, but in a good way. I love natural, everyday wearable makeup over anything too intense. A fluffy less dense brush is the key to getting the best results with this.
While the colors aren’t dupes (Instant Warm Glow matches the Capri Neo-Bronzer much closer), the IT Cosmetics palette is $32 compared to $58 for the Kevyn Aucoin palette. I love them both and luckily don’t have to choose between the two, but if I did, I’d choose the Confidence In Your Glow palette, it comes in three shade ranges, is truly effortless, easy to use makeup, and is a lot more affordable. Either way, you can’t go wrong with a three-in-one palette as beautiful as these.
