My Experience With a Personal Microdermabrasion Device

As a self-proclaimed skincare junkie, I’ve tried what feels like hundreds of products in hopes to improve my skin in every way possible.  Deep cleansing mud masks, peels, exfoliating masks… a cabinet full of products that all make regular appearances in my daily skincare routine. With every passing year the cosmetic industry releases newer more innovative products proving strong that the future of beauty is here. With as many amazing skincare products I’ve found & loved, the search is always on for something bigger, better, more efficient! Meet the Methode Brigitte Kettner Microdermabrasion Device, a.k.a. your desperately in need of TLC skin’s new BFF!

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that exfoliates and removes the top most layer of dead skin cells. It’s light, abrasive treatment is applied to the skin to treat issues such as hyper-pigmentation, early sun damage, uneven skin tone, dry skin, fine lines, light discoloration, visible pores, age spots and slight skin imperfections. The term “micro” refers to the small, exfoliating crystals used during the treatment; derma = your skin and “abrasion” refers to the exfoliation process. Microdermabrasion is a less invasive skin exfoliating treatment that can safely be done at home with a personal device. It only takes a few minutes and is pain-free and will leave your skin feeling more smooth & renewed than before.

Brigitte Kettner is a well known German biologist driven by her passion for a homeopathic approach to skincare. She studied the teachings of traditional Chinese medicine and integrated them into her own personal skincare line. She created a collection of naturally derived skincare along with a facial cleansing brush, eye rejuvenator and my favorite; the microdermabrasion device!

This device has a vacuum lift system that increases blood flow and brings oxygen to the surface while removing any & all dead skin cells, blackheads and stimulating collagen. It comes with a normal tip (150 grit) and sensitive tip (180 grit). The instruction manual provides a step-by-step guide on how to use this, what not to do and tips for best results.

After years of suffering with hormonal acne (shout out to being pregnant and those lovely postpartum months) I finally felt my skin was strong enough to try out something a little tougher and more effective. I only use this device 1-2 times a month but WOW, I am blown away by how much deeper of a cleanse this gives my skin over anything else. I can thankfully say that I am still wrinkle-free, however I still have uneven and skin texture issues. This sloughs away EVERYTHING and doesn’t hurt while doing so. I highly recommend trying out microdermabrasion if you’re looking to step up your ordinary skincare routine to something totally game-changing.
