My Current Summer “Sweat Proof” Foundation Routine

While it’s not quite summer just yet – it has been 90+ degrees lately here in Nashville. Which means, it’s time to bring out the super long lasting, sweat proof, shine proof, all-things mattifying makeup and hope our makeup can make it through these hot days without melting off!

Normally I never use a primer, I find cleaning my face and using a good moisturizer preps my skin best for makeup, but since we’re trying to fight the summer heat, a good, affordable primer such as this oil-free Catrice Prime and Fine Pore Refining Anti-Shine Base is an added layer to help keep skin matte & shine free.

My foundation of choice lately and one of my all-time favorites ever, the Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation. I’ve raved about this numerous times on my blog and truly is one of THE BEST foundation if you have oily skin and will keep you looking matte and flawless for the entirety of the day. It’s not heavy at all, not cakey, thick or mask-like. It dries down matte and looks just as great 12+ hours after when first applied. I can’t say enough good things about this foundation and how amazing it is!

The best setting powder I’ve used to date is the Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder. I’ve tried a bunch of loose setting powders over the years and was beginning to lose hope on finding one that would set my makeup, keep my skin matte without changing it’s color and one that didn’t look cakey or make my foundation feel heavy. This is the only one who’s managed to accomplish all of the above while making my makeup last ALL day long and keep my skin shine-free. Just like the rest of the Peaches and Cream collection, this smells absolutely amazing and it offers a universal peach tint so it won’t leave behind a white cast. This setting powder + the Peach Perfect Foundation = the ultimate dream team.

If I’m pressed for time, I opt for a pressed setting powder like the Sephora Beauty Amplifier Pressed Setting Powder. If there is one step in my entire makeup routine I cannot skip, it’s setting my foundation. It makes all the difference. The texture of this is smooth and lightweight. It’s translucent and ideal to mattify and reduce the appearance of pores and a great option to throw in your purse for mid-day touch ups to keep your skin shine-free.

If liquid foundations aren’t your thing or just want a really quick alternative that can be applied in like 30 seconds, I’d say go with the Sweat Cosmetics Mineral Foundation. They sell this in both jar and brush forms, I’d recommend the jar, it’s easier and gives a more even application. This contains SPF 30 and claims to protect & repair active skin, and is packed with natural, skin-loving ingredients. As someone who played soccer my entire childhood into adulthood, I am a big supporter of this company. It was started by a group of female professional athletes to bridge the gap between beauty and fitness. Which is something so often overlooked within the cosmetics industry so I love the entire concept of this cosmetics collection. This is water- and sweat-resistant for up to 80 minutes and does’t oxidize or change colors despite sweating.

And after you’ve put all that work in applying primer, foundation, setting powder and using your best oil-free products, it’s time to lock it all into place with none other than one of the best-selling setting sprays the Urban Decay All Nighter. Ironically, this was the first setting spray I ever used on my wedding day six years ago, and the only one I’ve consistently used over the last few years. This claims to keep your makeup looking fab for 16 hours without worry of it melting, fading or settling into fine lines. It’s oil-free and paraben-free and suitable for all skin types. It features Temperature Control Technology that was designed to lower the temperature of your makeup to keep everything in place even on the hottest of days. The end result is smoother looking skin and makeup that will last through anything. Never underestimate the power of a good setting spray!

FYI ** As always, my reviews are not paid and are based on my own opinion, personal use and results.

  1. When I tried the Peache Perfect Foundation I was very excited because I read so many good reviews about it but unfortunatly it’s not for me. I have combination skin more to the oily side but also a little bit dehidrayted and this Foundation looked so bad on my skin, it acentuated all my dry patches (some that I didn’t know that I had) and overall it looked so heavy on my skin. I was dissapointed but all skins are different, xx
