As if we didn’t already have reason enough to love Target, they just expanded their beauty section to include 8 more multicultural brands with 150 products focusing on medium to deeper skin tones. If theres one thing we need to see more of in the beauty industry, it’s inclusion. There should be as big of a selection for the fairest of fair to the deepest of deep and everyone in between.
The newest brands to join the Target beauty lineup are:
- Makeup Geek
- Haley’s
- Coloured Raine
- EveryHue Beauty
- The Lip Bar
- Reina Rebelde
- Violet Voss
- Hue Noir
Starting with a long time favorite of mine, Makeup Geek! Although Makeup Geek sells their eyeshadows as singles, trying out one of their mini 4 pan palettes is a great place to start and takes all the guesswork out of where to start. This palette in Promise contains 4 staple everyday natural shades. MUG has some of the BEST foiled eyeshadows and the shades in this palette pack a lot of pigment and are ideal for EVERY skin tone. Target x MUG are also offering 3 bronzer shades in Tawny, Sunkissed & Burnished. I use the lightest shade Sunkissed for the perfect natural bronze.
The Coloured Raine Glowlighter in “Selfie” is one of those medium gold shades that I think works well for a wide range of skin tones. My only complaint with this product is how soft it is. Within a few days of having it, the formula started to crumble in the pan. I was able to repress it and it works just as well, just something worth mentioning.
I’ve been dying to try out the Violet Voss brand for a while and I’m starting with this Matte Liquid Lipstick in Paisley. I usually prefer a lip gloss over a liquid lipstick, mainly because I like the way it feels on my lips and the added shine. I will make an exception if I love the color though, such as this. The lasting power of this liquid lipstick is unreal. It lasted probably 6+ hours on my lips with minimal budge.
Lastly, I tested out the Haley’s RE:SET Liquid Matte Foundation. It’s oil-free formula with 31 shades. YES, 31! I find this applies best with a beauty sponge and although it claims to be matte, if you have oily skin you definitely need to set it with a translucent powder and possibly even touch up throughout the day.
The products mentioned above are all available on Target.com and will be available in Target stores on May 20th! All 150 new products will range from $9.99 to $24.99.
