With all the constant newness in the makeup industry, it feels impossible to keep up (not to mention incredibly unaffordable!) I’m at the point where I’d rather have fewer high quality “staple” products vs. a bunch of the same thing/products that get minimal use. Less really is more.
And although I’m like 4-5 years late on this one, I’m glad to have finally tried it. I am a BIG fan of Kat Von D Beauty. She’s received a lot of heat over the last year (which I don’t care to get involved with) but all of that aside – her makeup is amazing. I’ve sworn by her Lock-It Finishing Powder, it’s my favorite setting powder ever and more recently fell in love with her Lock-It Powder Foundation as a fuller coverage setting powder over top of liquid foundation. They both set everything in place all day long and help keep oiliness at bay.
And now, all these years later I finally got around to trying out the infamous Shade + Light Eye Palette. While the color story isn’t exactly “revolutionary”, it was when it first came out. This is the only all matte palette I’ve ever owned that’s contained every neutral shade you could possibly ever need. The formula is so easy to use, very blendable, pigmented and long lasting and the palette is great for beginners as it divides into three quads that pair together.
And another thing I noticed after using this, the medium brown shade all the way to the left is a really close dupe of the medium shade (Shadowplay) in her Mini (and full) size Shade + Light Contour Palette. So it could probably serve both purposes if needed.
