Currently on sale, this gorgeous Heavy Metals palette is one of my all-time faves from Urban Decay. An all metallic palette of 20 eyeshadows with a shade range that surpasses any other metallic palette currently on the market. This is a keeper.
The packaging – The detachable palette easily slides out of the outer housing and the more neutral shades on one side are separated from the bolds by a big mirror in the center. While it’s not as easy to hold as a traditional palette it’s a different, unique set up which I can totally appreciate. I love seeing new ideas & concepts when it comes to makeup, it keeps things interesting! The actual packaging is sturdy plastic, a little bulky but nothing excessive.
Now as for the actual shade range… just take a minute to appreciate the color variety and bold pigments offered. I am all about neutral, everyday makeup, it’s what I reach for most and what I feel the most comfortable in, but this adds such fun pops of color and is totally workable. And, personally I think if you have this palette you’re pretty set when it comes to metallic eyeshadows, it has every shade you could possibly want!
If you remember Urban Decay’s OG metallic shades, you will love this formula even more. It’s richer, more pigmented and a much smoother consistency. With the exception of the shades Angelfire, Maiden and Acoustic every shade seems to apply as nice as it swatches. Those three shades aren’t bad at all, they just seem to be chunkier and just take more work to build up. The shade Glamrock is probably the biggest standout, I can’t get over how amazingly pigmented it applies. And Scream is one of my favorite shades to place on the center of my lids to add dimension and help me look more awake (yes please, especially on Mondays!) While I love that this palette contains neutral shimmery shades that are more my speed, surprisingly I’m more into the bolder, brighter shades! The formula seems consistent throughout for the most part and it doesn’t take much work to get the colors to appear how exactly how they look in the pans.
This palette is really fun and definitely unique to my collection and for the sale price of $27, how can you go wrong?!
