Out of all of the new makeup I’ve been testing out lately, I am most excited to talk about this! There’s just something about cute, tiny little packaged products that grabs my attention. I know I’ve mentioned before that most week days consist of me rushing to get myself ready, my kids ready and running out the door to drop them off, and make it to work on time. Yes, it’s my own fault for not allotting a reasonable amount of time to get myself ready, but I just love sleep a little too much and stay in bed until the last possible minute! SO – I end up doing my makeup on-the-go more often than not.
Let’s just say I get a whole lot of use out of my travel-friendly makeup. And I was immediately intrigued to see a company that caters to “right-sized” beauty products. Stowaway Cosmetics is founded on the concept of mobile-beauty that contains the right amount of product to be fully used and won’t just sit on your vanity and expire. As someone with a ton of makeup this is pretty amazing. I can’t even tell you how many different products I’ve tossed that only got minimal use but expired well before I could even make a dent in them. The small sizes of these make them manageable to use up before they go bad.
And one of my absolute favorite things about this company is that they follow European beauty standards & regulations which are WAY stricter than here in the U.S. In addition to being paraben & phthalate free, they don’t add any dangerous chemicals & preservatives or unsafe ingredients to preserve shelf life. Okay, less rambling, more talk about the quality of the products… stay with me!
I highly recommend ordering the “everyday kit”, it comes with 6 products that you can customize to your desired color choices, it gives you the opportunity to try a little bit of everything and it seems to be a better value. It includes: a bb cream, concealer, crème lipstick, cheek & lip color, eyeliner, and lengthening mascara.
I chose the bb cream in the shade light as well as the concealer. They both match my skin tone well and don’t apply cakey or too thick, which is the biggest downfall I find in these types of products. This bb cream offers very sheer coverage and gives you a very natural finish, I do think it definitely needs to be set with powder if you have oily skin. The concealer has really good coverage, it helps camouflage any redness, blemishes & discoloration.
For the lipstick I went with the shade Champagne – I can’t resist a good opaque rosy pink lip color! The cheek & lip color is in Peony, I like this better as a cream blush than a lip color. Although I do prefer powder blush over cream, this color is beautiful for everyday wear and even works well for those of us with oily-prone skin.
For the eyeliner I chose Jet, classic black eyeliner is a staple for my daily makeup routine and this one is the PERFECT size! I second that for the extreme lash mascara, this is the only product of the bunch I’m not crazy about. It doesn’t add enough volume for my liking.
While this kit does contain all of the great stuff above, if you’re an eyeshadow wearer like me, you do need to purchase that separately. The new Smokey Eye palette was calling my name! It seems like every new palette release is centered towards warmer shades, it’s nice to see a cool-toned smokey-eye palette and one that is this cute.. yes please! I was so happy to see that the shades didn’t totally suck (just being honest – a lot of travel sized makeup isn’t that good). This palette is the smallest I’ve ever seen, it’s credit card sized and is surprisingly really good. Not that I should be that surprised because I am happy with everything else I’ve tried this far, I guess I just was the most skeptical of their eyeshadows because I have so many others to compare it to. The lighter colors are beautiful for day-time and it’s so convenient to throw this in your purse and deepen the shades for a night out (amazing for touch-ups as well). The colors apply easily and blend out very well.
If you can’t already tell, I’m kind of obsessed with Stowaway Cosmetics and definitely recommend checking them out, you’ll thank me later!
