Over the last few days I’ve been decluttering and Spring cleaning non-stop. And one of the areas hit the hardest was my makeup collection. In a good way, of course! Being makeup obsessed and trying out tons of makeup, I always end up with way more than I need. I’m a firm believer if you don’t love something (anything – whatever it may be) pass it on. There is no need to keep anything you don’t absolutely love and truly want.
While these palettes aren’t all new releases, they’re what I use & love and find myself reaching for the most. Decluttering and curating my collection helped me narrow this list down to my top 5 favorites – tried & true!
::: Too Faced ♥ Just Peachy Mattes ::: Definitely one of the biggest palette hits of 2017! This is my only all-matte, warmed toned palette and I love it! All matte palettes are underrated and I’m hoping to see more of them this year. This palette is infused with peach & sweet fig cream and the scent is heavenly (why can’t all makeup smell this good?!). It has a beautiful array of matte peachy, cream and brown colors. The formula is buttery smooth, blendable and so easy to work with. Whether you’re looking for a really good all-matte palette or something to pair with more flashy shimmery eyeshadows this is a must. Mattes balance any metallics you pair them with and this color scheme is great for a toned-down work day or a more intense makeup look for a night out! •ו http://www.toofaced.com
::: Urban Decay ♥ Heavy Metals ::: This gorgeous Heavy Metals palette is one of my all-time faves from Urban Decay. An all metallic palette of 20 eyeshadows with a shade range that surpasses any other metallic palette currently on the market. This is a keeper. If you remember Urban Decay’s OG metallic shades, you will love this formula even more. It’s richer, more pigmented and a much smoother consistency. The detachable palette easily slides out of the outer housing and the more neutral shades on one side are separated from the bolds by a big mirror in the center. Just take a minute to appreciate the color variety and bold pigments offered. I am all about neutral, everyday makeup, it’s what I reach for most and what I feel the most comfortable in, but this adds such fun pops of color and is totally workable. These seem to apply best with your fingers which is pretty much how I always apply metallic shades for the best color payoff. And, personally I think if you have this palette you’re pretty set when it comes to metallic eyeshadows, it has every shade you could possibly want! •ו http://www.urbandecay.com
::: Too Faced ♥ Natural Love ::: 30 pans of neutral, beautifulness – 7 matte, 13 shimmer and 10 sparkle shades. In addition to creating new shades specifically for this palette, they combined some of their bestselling shades from various existing palettes in to one mega sized palette that is soft, romantic and a neutral lover’s dream! In comparison to some of Too Faced other palettes, I feel like this one wasn’t as popular overall. I, however find myself reaching for this so often. An all over neutral lid shade like Nudie + a light bronze shimmer shade overtop is my go-to most days. I also always reach for this when using any eye glitters such as the PUR eye polish glitters or Stila Magnificent Metals. Not every single color in the palette is a total hit, I found that the first and last rows (far left and far right) weren’t the best in color payoff. Some of the lighter shades were a bit chalky and some of the darker shades were patchy. But the 4 middle rows… so good which is enough to say that it’s worth it. The formula is similar to that of the Too Faced iconic chocolate bar palettes. For the glittery shades, I use a makeup setting spray on my brush for the best color payoff. •ו http://www.toofaced.com
::: Anastasia Beverly Hills ♥ Modern Renaissance ::: This palette has made waves in the beauty community. This may even be one of the most hyped about palettes in the beauty community thus far. It includes 14 shades, in neutral and berry tones. There are 11 matte shades and 3 metallic shades & it also comes with a soft dual-sided brush that is good, a lot of brushes that come in palettes aren’t all that that great, but I actually like this one. This is also the first permanent ABH palette and is perfect for creating looks for both day and night. The ABH formula is one of my favorites, it’s highly pigmented, VERY easy to blend and this palette is a must for everyone. I really, really want the ABH Soft Glam palette and think that will be my next makeup purchase! •ו http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com
::: Lorac ♥ Mega Pro 3 ::: I think this one was limited edition, but it looks like it can still be purchased through HSN. Lorac is probably my favorite brand when it comes to eyeshadow and some of the best you can find. Their formula is so finely milled, buttery smooth and SO easy to work with and offers intense color payoff. The Mega Pro 3 contains 32 shadows total, 16 matte and 16 shimmer. The color range contains cool tones, warm tones, neutrals and deeper shades, basically just a great staple palette with a lot of options. I really love rose/mauve shades, they look great one anyone with green eyes and I find them more wearable than deeper warm shades that we see a whole lot of in palettes these days. The formula wears consistently throughout and last a solid 8-9 hours on primed lids. •ו http://www.loraclosangeles.com
