My hairstyles can be divided into two categories: pre-ghd and post-ghd. Pre-ghd consisted of stringy, frizzy semi-straight hair and the occasional loose curl when my hair cooperated. Post-Gad: sleek, frizz free shiny hair – there’s no going back! Over the last 15+ years or so of heat styling my hair, this is only my 3rd hair straightener. And, amongst a long list of things we much too often take for granted, I now personally can say my hair straightener was one of them. My last one had been struggling for a bit, then completely stopped working for me and lets just say my hair was looking a little rough for the 2 weeks I went without. The struggle is real, I know!
Tons and tons of research was put into finding a new one. I needed something that is durable, will last me years and one that can handle my stubborn wavy hair. All which lead me to the ghd gold styler. It’s cool to see how far the industry has come just over the last few years with hair tools, and now is as good of a time as ever to try something new. And… to be totally honest, I’m really impressed and I didn’t think I’d get as excited over a hair straightener as I did with this. While the previous straightener I had did a pretty good job at straightening my hair, the ghd gold does it better and seems to keep my hair straighter for longer, despite this ridiculous Summer humidity. It glides through hair without any pulling or frying, and will leave your hair completely pin straight with minimal passes. I am awful at using an actual curling iron and have always had better results using my hair straightener for a similar result and love that this one creates smooth, flowy curls that don’t have any kinks or harsh lines and it’s a lot quicker than using a curling wand.
Underneath each plate contains dual-zone technology for premium performance and two heat sensors to control the optimum styling temperature of 185ºC. I love that it only takes 25 seconds to completely heat up and that it goes into automatic sleep mode after 30 minutes of non-use. With the touch of a button wavy, puffy hair can be tamed, and everything from loose curls to super sleek, straight, shiny hair can be achieved with this!
