Smashbox L.A. Cover Shot Palette

I’ve recommended the Smashbox Cover Shot Palettes since they first released 3 years or so ago and love that they offer such a big variety of palm-sized palettes with SO many different color stories in a high quality, reliable formula. When I saw they released this L.A. Cover Shot Palette, I was all about it. First off – the holographic palm trees & Los Angeles beach themed packaging.. I. Can’t. Resist. If only all makeup packaging could be THIS beautiful. But – more importantly, the color selection.

At first glance, this really has it all. Cool-tones, warm-tones, mattes (9), shimmers (7), pops of color and they’re all arranged into four sections of quads, signifying different color schemes that go well together. I love the simplicity in the layout and how quick and easy it is to get a complete look without any thought.

The formula is so easy to use. Not too powdery at all, very easy to blend and pigmented. Of the 4 sections included 75% of the time I reach for this I always end up using the smokey section, all the way to the right. They made the base shades double the size and I enjoy using them underneath the shimmers and brighter shades for a more intense color payoff. This is the type of palette you’ll be able to create SO many looks with and not get bored of. Between the vast shade selection, convenient layout, sturdy packaging and the included Always On Gel Liner, this is a great palette to travel with and a great option for someone who loves neutrals but also wants a some fun, unique colors to work with.

A few important things worth noting: the ingredients are free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban. Also it’s cruelty-free and gluten-free. If you love the original Cover Shot Palettes formula, you will definitely love this. If you’re debating on purchasing a Cover Shot Palette, but aren’t sure which one, I highly recommend this. It’s $45 vs the $29 price point for a smaller palette, but contains more variety. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
