I cannot resist a good eyeshadow palette! As a beauty junkie, it’s the one area in my collection I can never get enough of and is also the hardest to declutter. There are SO, SO many new palettes that have just been released and this one immediately caught my attention. The colors in this palette just scream fall to me!
In all honesty, I had no idea who Etienne Ortega was, but with a little research found that he’s an LA based celeb makeup artist with high profile clientele such as the Kardashians, the Jenners, Christina Aguilera and Kate Beckinsale just to name a few. And I think we all can agree any makeup artist affiliated with the Kardashian’s has pretty much struck gold and made it big. Kim K and her amazing beauty squad have inspired so much within the beauty industry, and Etienne being apart of that speaks volumes.
First impressions – I was just so drawn to the color selections, it has everything you need. Your basic “nude” shades, warm “fall” shades, mattes, shimmers, a deep matte black, a few bold pops of colors.. it’s all there. Etienne created this for global skin tones keeping everyone in mind and this is a palette that makes it so easy to create multiple looks.
Pros: The shimmer shades are amazing as with every PUR palette I’ve tried. Of course, the color selection is gorgeous. And, as much as it has a lot of neutral shades, it doesn’t look like a basic boring palette. Cons: Some of the mattes were a bit patchy and not as pigmented as I’d hoped for. You can see this a bit in my pictures, some of them took multiple swatches to build up the color. I did watch a few videos of Etienne using this palette and noticed part of his technique was going in with a light hand and building up and intensifying the colors to get the look to go from subtle to glam with minimal effort.
Most pigmented colors: Legend, Penny, Monii, 1988, Bossy, Paradise, 3AM & Galaxy. This palette contains some of the most pigmented deep matte black shades that I’ve found in any palette. Least Pigmented colors: Stripped, Lola, Billionaire & midnight. The bottom row had the most disappointments for me.
If you’re a fan of Etienne, for collectors purposes you should definitely buy this. If you love the PUR cosmetics eyeshadow formula, I think you will enjoy this, but I have to say it’s not my absolute favorite palette of theirs. Either way, this is a beautiful addition to my fall makeup collection and I love it! Xo.
