My desire to put a bunch of new foundations to the test came about when I heard the news that my favorite foundation, the Fiona Stiles matte finish foundation concentrate was being discontinued a few months ago. All good things must come to an end I guess. Although I do miss that foundation, it gave me a reason to branch out and try new things in hope to find a new fave. Out of the 20 (or so) foundations I’ve tried throughout 2017, these are the absolute best of the best for anyone with oily skin!
[ Flower Beauty • BB Cream 4-in-1 Skin Solution ] $14 ::: I have full coverage foundations that don’t cover nearly as well as this! I love Flower Beauty, and was so shocked at the quality of this for the price. The 4-in-1 claim is that it is both a concealer + foundation that minimizes pores, hides shine, and evens out discoloration. I 100% agree – other than it minimizing pores.. I didn’t really notice a huge difference in that area but it covers any discoloration, unevenness, acne scares unlike any other BB or CC cream I’ve ever used. This works best with a mattifying primer & setting powder to keep skin shine-free for more than 5+ hours. And the only downside is that there are only 4 shades.
[ Bare Minerals • Bare Pro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation ] $34 ::: When I’m not wearing my Peach Perfect foundation, I’m more than likely wearing this. Ten years ago I was obsessed with the Bare Minerals mineral powder foundation and now I’m all about this. This contains good for you skin ingredients including bamboo stem extract, papaya enzymes and looks so natural yet covers so, so well. I love that they offer over 30 shades and that this foundation does NOT oxidize even a little bit. It’s incredibly long wearing, looks natural, stays matte and is a perfect match for my skin.
[ Too Faced • Peach Perfect Foundation ] $36 ::: You guys, I cannot put into words my love for this foundation! It really is my #1 go-to foundation and I can’t recommend it enough. First off the Sweet Peach collection smells absolutely amazing (the scent isn’t overbearing or noticeable once applied) and it offers a weightless, flawless finish. This is the type of foundation you apply and don’t feel like you’re wearing anything heavy, cakey or mask-like. It dries down matte and looks just as great 12+ hours later as it did when you first applied it. This foundation + their I Want Kandee Banana Powder are my “holy grail” foundation & setting powder.
[ Kat Von D • Lock-It Foundation ] $35 ::: WOW, the Kat Von D line never ceases to amaze me, and this product is no exception. If you are looking for THE MOST full coverage matte foundation ever, this is it. This foundation will cover everything… literally everything. Blemishes, skin discoloration, tattoos (yes even tattoos!), will all disappear underneath this. It does feel a bit heavy and it is definitely not an everyday product for me, but if you’re going somewhere that you want to look flawless (weddings, picture day, formal dinners, etc.) you will absolutely love the results of this. And they offer one of the biggest shade varieties I’ve seen from any brand.
[ Laura Mercier • Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation ] $48 ::: Super lightweight, water-resistant, matte finish, oil-free, non-comedogenic… overall really awesome. I love full coverage foundation that doesn’t look full coverage, know what I mean? Who’s into the cake face look? … umm nobody! This gives great, even coverage while still feeling light and looking natural and it looks even better when set with their cult-favorite Translucent Loose Setting Powder. Dream team? Yup!
