I am always elated to find clean beauty brands that outperform their less-clean counterparts. I tried a lipstick from Kosas back in 2016 and am so happy to see how much the brand has grown and expanded their line. If you’re looking to try out a clean beauty brand but don’t know where to start, this is it.
Tinted Face Oil… It’s essentially makeup infused with high quality skincare ingredients such as avocado oil, red raspberry oil, green tea seed oil, meadowfoam oil, jojoba oil and rosehip seed oil. It’s incredibly hydrating and soothing and feels weightless and comfortable on the skin. This is far from a full-coverage heavy foundation, this is the type of product you’d reach for when you want a more natural, quick makeup look that takes like less than a minute to achieve. My first time using this I dispersed the product directly on my skin (it’s a very thin, watery consistency) and blended it out with a damp beautyblender. It worked totally fine but I used more than I needed and my skin felt too oily. Second time, I put a few drops on my fingertips and applied it just as I would an actual skincare product (serum/moisturizer). It took about 30 seconds and I ended up using way less product. I powdered over my nose and forehead to set it and was done. That’s it! I also think this makes a great companion to add in with other foundations to amp up hydration and give your skin the benefits of using all these beneficial oils. This is such a unique and innovative foundation and something that will work with any skin type. It comes in a range of 10 shades designed to work for every skin tone as it just melts right into your skin and seamlessly blends in. I have it in the shade 4 (light with golden undertones) and it’s perfect.
While I still prefer powder face products, this cream blush and highlight duo in Helios is persuading me to venture out and try new things. It blends out SO, so easily and can be done so with a damp beautyblender, a brush or your fingertips (my preference). It takes the smallest amount lightly dabbed on your cheekbones to achieve a bright, lively flush of color. Helios is actually a burnt orange shade which normally wouldn’t be my first choice in blush but it is so beautiful and fresh and reminds me of summer. I also enjoyed tapping just a tiny amount of the included gold tones highlighter for extra luminosity. Another unique quality of this duo is that they created it with 2 levels of intensity making it a more inclusive product.
And last but certainly not least, the Wet Lip Oil Gloss in the shade Jellyfish. Pretty much the only lip gloss I’ve reached for since I got it. Jellyfish is the lightest color offered (it’s clear) and is perfect on its own if you need something to help moisturize your lips or looks great layered over top of other lip products. It’s packed with hyaluronic acid & peptides to smooth and plump and I feel like I can see a difference in my lips even when not wearing this. They’ve felt smoother and less dry since I’ve started using this daily.
Kosas is one of the few Clean At Sephora brands and uses only clean, skin-loving botanical ingredients that are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and made without phthalates, parabens, mineral oil and synthetic fragrances.
I’ve been curious about the Kosas foundation, thanks for reviewing it!
I like it a lot.. it’s definitely not replacing my favorite foundations but great for days you don’t want heavy makeup!!
Loved your review of Kosas!
