Laura Mercier Hidden Gems Eye Shadow Palette

Although the Laura Mercier Hidden Gems Eye Shadow Palette has been out for a little while, it’s new to me and caught my attention as soon as I saw it. Not too colorful.. not too neutral.. wearable jewel-tones that offer just enough color without being too much. The color story was inspired by the vivid colors of jewels and contains 10 shimmering metallics and 2 matte shades. And I am all about it.

These colors have a sense of sophistication to them. They’re not un-wearably bright and don’t contain chunks of glitter. These are the types of jewel-tones you can feel confident wearing anytime, anywhere.  The formula is dense and these apply surprisingly smooth and opaque with NO fallout. While I often apply metallics with my fingertips, I actually prefer using a dampened brush and love how precise and easy they apply.

I also love how well each shade layers with one another. They don’t all blend together and when layered overtop of the matte black they offer such a vibrant, smoky finish. My biggest complaint with this palette is that there are only 2 mattes. I wish the matte shade Bone was a bit deeper, and better suited as a crease color but I enjoy the matte black to add depth and use as liner (I am AWFUL with liquid eyeliner) so this is appreciated. These shadows look beautiful applied on their own for a quick, easy look or of course are stunning when you’re in the mood for something vibrant and edgy.
